Teak, or Tectona Grandis is a large, deciduous, tropical species of hardwood trees. Prized all over the world for its elegance and durability, it is native to Southeast Asian nations like Myanmar, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, and Malaysia. However, the most precious and valuable teak comes from Myanmar (Burma).
 
Teak,  bearing the enviable accolade of “the King of Hardwoods” is one of the most sought-after wood types in the world. Burmese Teak is durable, stable, and has a high oil content. Such wood displays minimal expansion, shrinkage, and warpage when exposed to different environments. What gives Teak its strength and stability is its densely packed wood fibers. In general Teak has Straight to slightly wavy grains, with uniform golden brown color that darkens over time.
